Train and back to roots

Clicked render. Got bored after a couple hours and cancelled it. Dont really like the shot. I think im going to take a break from it for a while, then come back and revisit the idea. I like my train model. But hmm its just a bit shite over all.

Had some cool ideas of stuff coming through, so I figured its a good time to try and put these ideas to paper. Get some practice back into drawing again.

Station progress and skybox


Painted a Skybox (no bottom required)
Added some lights. Dont really like the overwhelming brickwork in the background, so ill probably cut some of it back. Will bring out the train a little better again aswell. Think i may need to tone down some of the train reflectivity aswell whilst im at it.

Not a huge amount to show, did some life drawing. 20 minute sketch. Her hand is far too small, but damn the lack of real life photoshop means i couldn't lasso and enlarge it. never mind.

Just spent about 20 mintues adding in little details, will fill in some of the blank spaces with fluff so that I can build extra stuff onto the train to decorate it.

back

So I did a Yolo. Ended up in Barcelona for 4 days.

Back now.

Today I figured out that the reflection map which I thought was defining what areas to allow to be reflective and what not to be, was just making a map to reflect. Which was why it looked completely wrong. So I spent hours looking around online to no avail how to do this. I'll just ask at work tomorrow.

Other than that, I doodled a few details onto the texture sheet for fluff details as I'm shattered and off to bed. no point putting up anything as its dull as fuck. Will show something tomorrow probably.

little progress

Started making the specular, but for some reason or other, my wacom uninstalled itself, then wouldnt reinstall, then after a restart started working. So weird. Anyways, didnt do muhc, sorted out some smoothing group issues though. We'll gave it smoothing groups full stop. it had 1. just group1.

Zbrushing

Starting zbrushing this train up, didnt want to damage the train much, so i just sorta added some metal scratches and creases, raised the lines added in some rivets really. Basic stuff, but took a while as I learnt how to apply uvw textures and had to retopo the train due to the fact i made it low poly before and had triangles n shit everywhere. gg

Progress so far, just detailing up stuff, though a friend pointed out I should have taken this into zbrush a while back and done it that way round. I'll look into it tomorrow as im too lazy tonight. Zombies have taken my focus too much this evening.

Texturing begins!

Alright it may look like i've stepped back and its returning to its old grey form, i've mostly been turning the shapes form the uv's into blocks of colour so that later i can revist them and add in the details through tonnes of layers and such and it will make a little more sense. 1hr

Started a texture!

So I spent about 50 minutes more unwrapping, then blocked some colours down. I've not posted anything up recently, so i figured i should least put something. I've not made this completely tilable as once i've coloured it up a bit, ill endup merging it into a bigger atlas. I'll work that stuff more correctly later on.
